Comboyne embraces Film Festival for an Australia Day event

The Australia Day Film Festival was such a success that the committee look forward to making it an annual Australia Day event, according to Comboyne Hall committee spokesperson Andre Cassar.
“We see the purpose of the Hall as hosting creative community events such as this,” he said.
Just over 50 people turned up on the rainy Saturday night, which was enough to make the volunteer-run event sustainable.
“The Committee were thrilled with the quality of presentation,” said Comboyne Hall committee member Angela Macpherson. “The movies made for a stimulating and convivial nights entertainment for young and old.”
Angela and Andre agreed that as well as an entertaining evening, it was great to have young locals talking with Forster Film Festival staff about making their own short films.
“We encourage locals to enter their short films in this local Festival,” said Festival director Greg Smith. “A lot of films come from overseas, so it’s a special pleasure when an audience recognises the landscape in a film they’re watching. And our judges have a real soft spot for local entries.”
