Respect: It's a Wrap


Cast with 100% Aboriginal talent, the 30 minute short film RESPECT presents an uplifting real life drama about respect for the Elders in a contemporary Aboriginal community on Australia's Mid North Coast.

Respect Short Film A young man sees no value in traditional Aboriginal culture until he spends some time with an Elder Uncle. When one of his friends is facing serious jail time, he approaches the Elder for guidance.

The film portrays members of an Aboriginal community employing traditional solutions to deal with alcohol abuse, anger management, and domestic violence.

Cast with local talent and following a script developed by the Minimbah Elders, with input from Aboriginal Liaison Officers and The Department of Aboriginal Affairs, the film was made by Forster Film Festival with funding from the Department of Community Services.

This short film was filmed in Port Macquarie and Forster. Spectacular soundtrack is by Blue King Brown.

It's local media launch was at the Minimbah Aboriginal Elder Group meeting, on Tuesday 1st June. The national launch is at Redfern National Centre for Indigenous Excellence, July 9th.
